MARTIAL ARTS CLASSES

OUR CLASSES & GRADING SYLLABUS COVERS THE FOLLOWING MARTIAL ARTS

A.K.K.A TRADITIONAL WADORYU

Traditional Wadoryu basics such as punches, kicks, blocks, and strikes including several stances to build strength in the legs

develop coordination and improve balance. Along with these basic techniques, students will learn how to refine their timing by performing reaction drills and combining them with kicks and punches along with counter and evade techniques.

Another focus in Wadoryu Karate classes are katas detailed patterns or forms of stances combined with basic Karate techniques.

This is considered as the foundation of Wadoryu in alot of schools but here at A.K.K.A we have dedicated seperate classes for our Kata practice. Students will also learn Kihons performed with a partner. The attacker has certain punches, kicks, and strikes to deliver, while the defender has to execute precise blocks, evasions and counters. This is where Wadoryu really differentiates itself from other styles because it uses the hips and body to evade attackers, along with their energy, and counter with strikes, throws and practical self defence.

A.K.K.A FREESTYLE SPORT KARATE
Wado-ryu Free Style Karate is a traditional style of karate but with a modern approach. This style is free flowing and is not as rigid as some styles. Punches, kick, sweeps, take downs, semi-contact sparring, self defence, weapons and Japanese are just some of the things you will learn! Freestyle karate students participate in 'points sparring' in class. As always this is controlled and well supervised. All students will have the opportunity to work towards their blackbelt with personal guidance and support.

A.K.K.A AMERICAN SPORT KICKBOXING
Kickboxing is a fast paced dynamic and fun sport. You will learn how to punch and kick effectively and how to transfer these skills into light continuous sparring. All sparring is done with full safety equipment in a controlled environment and is completely optional. As well as self defense, fitness and confidence you will also improve balance, flexibilty, strength and core stability.
All students will have the opportunity to work towards their blackbelt with personal guidance and support.
